22 August 2014: A quiet afternoon in the Forest of Dean.

Took an afternoon jaunt into th Forest of Dean today with an ex work colleague. The plan was to catch some Peregrine action at Symonds Yat Rock, visit Nagshead RSPB reserve and snap some Spotted Flycatchers  and finally se some Goldcrest at Yew Tree Brake. Failed on all counts(-:).

However,, we did see Peregrine just so distant that they weren't worth photographing. We did see a Buzzard flying below us over the River Wye.
After Symonds Yat we moved to Nagshead to see the Spotted Flycatcher - saw some flies.

and a very obliging Chiffchaff which almost filled my frame.

There was a Southern Hawker cruisng the pool

Also quite a lot of Emerald Damselflies

and a jumping jack Blue Tit.
From there we called at Cannop Ponds in cas ethere were any Siskin, Dipper or Kingfisher showing but all we saw of note was this Grey Wagtail.
Last port of call was Yew Tree Brake for Goldcrest. We got  a Green veined White
 a rather shy Fallow Deer
and a Coal Tit as a mixed flock of Tits hurtled through.
Tomorrow's another day, as someone once aid(-:).
